“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
- Anaïs Nin

April comes in full of light - longer days, green on the trees, petals opening in defiance of everything that held them back all winter. This is the season of emergence - stepping fully into the world as yourself. Letting your colors show - unapologetically, vividly, and boldly.
This month, we bloom.
Why We Bloom Boldly
We spend so much time trying to stay small - to take up as little space as possible...to be neat and acceptable and quiet. But we were not made to stay folded forever. Blooming is not always easy. It means trusting you’re ready, even if you feel unsure. It means being seen. But the world needs your colors - your strange, beautiful, wild self - just as much as it needs the quiet seed you once were. When you bloom, you remind others they can, too.
Blooming doesn’t mean you have to be perfect or finished - flowers bloom even when their petals are a little uneven, even when the wind tears at them. To bloom boldly is simply to show up anyway, open, alive, and willing to let the world see you exactly as you are.

Blooming
Here is a simple ritual to honor your own unfolding.
What You’ll Need:
A flower (fresh, dried, or even just a photo)
A mirror
A quiet space
Steps:
1️⃣ Place the flower in front of the mirror. Sit where you can see both it and yourself.
2️⃣ Look at the flower. Notice its shape, its color, its softness, and its strength.
3️⃣ Look at yourself and name three ways you are blooming, right now.
4️⃣ Whisper (or write): I allow myself to bloom. I am already enough.
5️⃣ Keep the flower somewhere visible for the rest of the month as a reminder.
Journal Prompts
For deeper reflection:
What parts of me am I still keeping folded?
Where in my life do I feel ready to bloom?
What would it feel like to take up space without apology?
For this radiant season, choose scents that feel bright and alive, like walking through a garden in the sun:
✨ Peony & Bergamot - floral and citrusy
✨ Rose & Grapefruit - romantic and fresh
🖤 Use a spray, soap, or candle to set the tone for your morning or ritual.
When my (Lauren) autistic son was in public school, he was bullied - often made to feel like he didn’t belong, like his differences were something to hide. So when the time came to send him to a summer music camp, I was nervous. I knew it was a great camp because I went there every summer as a teen, but I worried he would feel out of place again, that he’d shrink back into himself to avoid being hurt. What happened was the opposite: he bloomed. He found a big group of friends who welcomed him exactly as he was - kids who share his love of music and meet back up each summer, picking up right where they left off. Watching him step into that space and let himself be seen reminded me that blooming sometimes happens where you least expect it - when you finally find the right soil.
You are not here to stay hidden. You are not here to stay small. This month, may you let yourself bloom - fully, vividly, and without apology. You have earned your petals.
We can’t wait to see what colors you show us.
